What is the difference between the 1080 & 1084 Amiga monitor. My brother went to order one and the lady told me that the 1084 monitor flickers, so they went back to the 1080. I had thought that Commodore replaced the 1080 monitor for the 1084, if so, why?
All HDs will benefit. But those that use DMA controllers are much faster with the ffs. The comparison is 84k per sec reads with non-DMA controllers, 218k per second reads with a DMA controller. But since the ffs is not currently available, it's an invalid comparison as things may change…

Frank, I had the same problem with a 2000. The CTRL-Amiga-AMiga would not always work correctly. My unit was replaced and the problem was solved. Note, I still have the original keyboard, so it was not the problem.

Adding to what Don says, you'll have add-on graphic cards on the Amiga 2000 as well. One that comes to mind is 1280×1280 x 16 million colors (clean and crisp), not to mention new graphics chips in the future.
