Terry, No, a separate video board will not make the Q700 faster. Unlike the IIci and IIsi, it has separate video RAM and the internal video circuitry never interferes with the processor's access to main memory. Read action !

Terry, The Q700 has dedicated video RAM. It shipped (as I recall) with 512K of VRAM. You can increase that to a maximum of 2 MB of VRAM. The on-board video is as quick as it gets without a dedicated QuickDraw accelerator or PhotoShop accelerator, and it's MUCH faster than…

Will adding a video board make the Quadra 700 run faster? I know the IICi shared regular RAM with the onboard video, so adding a separate video card made it run faster. Is it the same for a Q700? There are 2 Replies. Read action !
