I do share your disappointment in E! and yet it is still the nearest we have to an intuitive WP-like wordprocessor. I have also been waiting for the next version to bowl us over. I think now I am waiting for FinalCopy to bowl us over instead. Surely some company…

Dave, there are a couple of guys on the Fido Tech-Echo doing just that. The discussion has already progressed beyond the unworkable idea you threw out (tongue in cheek I assume) to analyzing the speed regulation circuit. I think last time I checked the students were discussing hall-effect sensors on…

I said I would drop this and just read, but if you are going to threaten my cracker jack decoder ring….no way Chris.

re: "some cable don't have the twist, have to set the DS jmprs" I had to do that for a a guy who called me to straighten out a problem on an Amiga 2000. Turned out he took an external chinon floppy drive out of the ext. casing and tried…

I just want to input my opinion that FinalCopyII is one of the finest word processors available for the Amiga, especially good for small businesses like ours that needed something to produce flyers, ad copy, calendars and the like with to promote our services. The boxes and lines are especially…

Thanks for the information. Since I don't plan to buy a new machine until at least after January anyway that sounds good. In fact I had really thought it best to wait until they get the final production model stable, as the one shown at WOC looks and feels more…

(replying out of context) Wouldn't that be nice, if I could buy my A4000 or A2200 (mythological beast to replace the 2000) from the most respected dealer in America….Sam Walton?

OK, I will accept that you know more about CBM dealer franchises than I do. That's easy, I'm not one. Do I infer then that an Authorized dealer can not sell a 3000 with HD since it is not an authorized configuration? I still think CBM has created a lot…

Thanks for the interesting information on HD an QBack. What amigados are you using on your 3000? I get conflicting signals that 2.05 will recognize the HD and then some say 2.1 is necessary?

DOA I don't know, but I happen to be privy to a figure of 8% for "needing service in the warranty period" which is 1 year. That is 2000/3000, not 500. I agree with you that the customer is always right and should be asked if he wants it opened…

"Amiga floppy drives are extremely mysterious" Maybe, but the half-speed idea they use on the "HD Chinons" is as old as the hills. The PC world used it so long ago they have forgotten about it. I worked on some antique Wang PC's in Hawaii earlier this year which I…

I know I should drop this. "unless he lives in PA he wouldn't have to pay sales tax…etc" Whether he pays tax or not, the implication is clear that the dealer is buying wholesale for resale at profit, and that it is not his machine to strip and then claim…

Uh-huh. In my opinion, if this is typical of comodore computer dealers I can see why there are getting to be fewer of them every day.

True, the dealer put money out first, but he also does something else: he does not pay tax on the merchandise because he has a number. That is because he is "buying for resale", right? So he is not the end user, not the final owner unless he pays that…

Well, I know for a fact that is just exactly what happened several places when experienced users were willing to pay for 2.05 dos and new buyers of A2000's didn't know better. It is buyer beware, but I don't think it is at all ethical to do such things. The…

Hello Patrick Can't help echoing your enthusiasm for a 2000 AGA mb swapout. It has been richoceted around the FidoNets that CBM at WOC did make supportive comments about that possibility, hard as it is to believe. "If I were CBM" I would think it a good move to retain…

In truth, most PC clones ignore it too. A few machines can check parity.

The ninth bit is a parity bit, unused by the GVP or any commodore device. I even mix them on one mem board and it ignores the ninth chip.
