"An A500 replacement, as the 1200 is rumored to be, with IDE makes sense, though, as opposed to an A4000 with IDE. :)" Yeah I guess that's true. Nick

Hmmm, still IDE I see. I wonder if all the new Amiga's will have IDE instead of SCSI-2? Nick
Under MODEL on the box of the modem all it says is "COURIER HST Dual Standard" there is no model number. I got mine via the USR upgrade program. Nick

Why no fax for my modem?
Message #72970
"what model is your dual standard" It is the new HST Dual Standard witht he smaller footprint and the 16.8 HST and 14.4 V.32bis modes. IT is also upgradable to the 28.8K standard when that comes out. Nick

What does GROUP 3 fax mean? I have a new USR Dual Standard with FAX but I am not sure about what class it is. It may be class 1 Nic
Peter, I'll have to ask my friend whether they were just little parts of a bigger picture, or whether they are just pieces of a Targa file that get put together by the viewer. I'm not sure whether he even tried to render 1 of the smaller pieces. Thanks, Nick

Hep me somebody! I purchased the USMC CDROM of Japanese Animation pictures in IBM Targa format hoping to be able to convert the Targa files to an AMIGA format whenever I get ahold of a CDROM drive! Anyway, I lent the disk to a friend with an AMIGA and CDROM…
JR-Comm 2.0 is still in the beta test stage as far as I know. Nick
Luciano, Your name sounds familiar, have you done any Amiga utilities? Nick
Jerry, You really should work on your punctuation and spelling. 😎 Nick
I'm sorry Ren, I don't know what came over me. 😎 Nick
Commodore can go write their own damn letter. So it finally takes a letter like this to wake Commodore up huh? I believed them a few years back when they said how they were going to build the Amiga market, but they failed miserably, I am not holding my breath…
That article was the one that was floating around USENET for a while. I have the whole article if anyone wants to read it. It sounds real enough, but who knows? Nick
Yeah I saw it on USENET. I have the file if someone wants me to upload it. Nick
Yes in the original FITS format please. Thanks Nick
"Nick, :-)) had a good laugh at that one. Perhaps it's like an SF movie and is THE clue that somethings actually there looking back……Laurie" Maybe it was a cloaked spaceship! Like in Star Trek! Yeah!! 😎 Nick
Well I dunno, upload a few of the better ones. You can upload them up to the BBS BBS if that is more convienient. I can download faster from there anyways. I think Ben said that he is checking on the legal aspects of those pics so you might want…
Are there any really cool NASA images? I need some! 😎 Nick ec
The new NASA FITS loader in the new PIE works great with those images I had problems with Ben! Too bad the 2 images I had sucked though. 😎 Would you believe one was just of space?? Just nothing but blackness…. over 600K worth. Can you upload some real good…
"I use PowerSnap 1.1 — didn't know about a 2.0 — how about uploading it?" I just quoted your message with PowerSnap 2.0 buy cutting the text from the review buffer in JR-Comm! Pretty neat huh!? Anyways the problem is that I seem to have 2 versions of PS 2.0.…

Any Power Snap 2.0 users out there? Nick
Check out the new issue of Amiga World, they have a 4 page ad about the OPALVISION. There is also a 1-800 number there that perhaps you can get even more info. Nick
"Add in the cost of the extra monitor, networking software and hardware to enable you to have the MS-DOS machine and the Amiga working together, and it is sure to cost more than $915. Aside from which, I doubt if it will acutally cost many people that amount." I think…
I think Ben mentioned that they are adding VM to Imagemaster only. Nick
Assuming you want to use Hi-Res Interlace mode without the flicker you will need a "flicker-fixer" type board. Nick
I just grabbed a few images off a friends CD-ROM, I don't remember even what the disc was called. It may have been the sampler. Nick
"There are definitely some fun things in the 9.13 release, no question about it. :^)" How about a tool that would allow one to erase the clothes off of a girl in a picture? 😎 Nick
"Actually, I'll do better than that; I'll upload the new PIE.lzh system (which contains the new loader code for the FITS stuff, among other changes, and works fine with earlier IM releases) within a day or so." Kewl dude. I can deal with that! Nick
"I agree $915 would be absurd. $600 would be more reasonable. (Yeah, you could buy a basic 386SX with no HD for that, but there are some advantages to the Bridge architecture.)" I could deal with $600. Nick
Could you put some of the good FITS files on your BBS BBS 😎 that work with the current loader? I am dying to try it out but I only have 2 non-compressed FITS images at the moment. Nick
Has anyone sent in the shareware fee for MFR?? What is the easiest way to send the fee to Stefan? I think he is in Europe right? How long does it take to get the registered version from him?? Nick
The 386sx Bridgeboard costs $915!?!? Thats insane! You could get a complete 386sx system for that. CBM never ceases to amaze me. AMicon meets the first SAt of each month at OCLC (The Online Computer Library Center) in Dublin, Ohio. at 10:30am. Nick

Hi Ben, Just got me another 4 meg o' RAMA for my Amiga 3000, so now I have 2 meg o CHIP and 7.5 meg o FAST (512K is lost to kickstart). I was trying to get Imagemaster to load some of them cool NASA images. I have one called…
I am not positive of all the differences but I believe the 1960 can handle the 1024 x ??? that the Lowell graphics board puts out. Not sure what else. Hopefully someone else will respond cause I am interested in knowing as well. Nick
How much did the 386sx Bridge cost ya? Does it have a math coprocessor? You in Columbus? Bring it to the Sat Amicon meeting up at OCLC! 😎 Nick
I have been buying 70ns memory for my 3000. Are there any benefits at all to using 70ns memory? Nick
"Yes, I think it could. Tricky – very – but I think it's doable under 1.3 or 2.0." (SUBLIMINAL MODE ON) do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it 😎 Nick
"In fact, it's a REAL nice thought. Hmmm." You suppose such a thing could be done? Nick
With this DCTV doppleganger is it possible to use stuff like DCTV's paint program? Or does that require the hardware? Nick
#DCTV Doppleganger!
Message #41122
Ben that DCTV Doppleganger is waaay cool! It's a godsend to us HAME owners who are getting overlooked from the likes of Imagine, Scenery Animator etc… Thanks a ton! Is there a way to make it faster? Like maybe a 030 version? Or is such thing neccessary? Thanks again! Nick
I found the IM/IP upgrade to be easy as PIE. (ducking) 😎 Nick
Do you have a new manual for IP/IM in the works? Whens it due? Nick
What makes SID 2 better than Opus? Well SID is much more configuarable, the program seems to be better thought out, more features etc… over 200K of online help. Check out the demo if you get a chance. Nick
"In any event, have you tried Directory Opus? It's much better than the WMS." SID 2.0 is even better! 😎 (tee hee!) Nick
If you have Kickstart on your Hard Disk that loads into RAM you got only 1.5 meg of memory. Nick
"Softwood is crazy if they think every 3000 owner is going to run out and install more RAM (right after dropping $2,000+) just so they can open more than one document. That's crazy." People buy Amiga 3000's because they need the power. And most 3000's owners are smart enough to…
