We get alot of flack because of SoundScape. Some people blame Todor for the lack of support. The truth of the matter is that SoundScape is a Mimetics product, not a Todor Fayt product. His job was to write the code. There's was to write a decent manual, support the…
Betty, If he is asking how he can specify which MIDI channel is coming into Bars&Pipes, here's how to do it: In the Preferences menu of the Main Screen, there is an option called Multiple In. Selecting this replaces the red Input Arrow with an individual number (blue and white)…
Blue Ribbon Bakery, Inc. Barbara, MuFFy loads MIDI File Format #1, which is the multi-track format. MIDI File Format #0 is a one track, compressed score format. MIDI File FOrmat #2 is a multiple sequence format. MuFFy only loads format #1, since Bars&Pipes is a multi-track sequencer. By the way,…
John, We do have plans to release a Jr. version of Bars&Pipes. First, though, we plan to improve the existing version by adding notation, real-time transcription, score printing, scrolling edit windows, main screen clipboard and event list editing to mention a few features. It has been made very clear to…
Your demo is on the way…
Yes, the GVP 030 board has been known to cause problems. However, the guys at GVP were nice enough to give us a board so that we can set things straight. BTW, we're also up to version 1.0e now, which besides adding three new features contains significant improvements for 020…
Consider it sent. Melissa
First of all, 1.0b is an *extremely* old demo version. We're currently on 1.0e, which includes bug fixes as well as quite a few new features. If you'd like it, send me a note with your address. Second, "Propogate" is used in conjunction with A-B-A Song Construction and Editing. After…
Jeff, It sounds to me like your having an unusual stuck note problem. Although this is uncommon with Bars&Pipes, here's a suggestion: If you have stuck notes, press the "Stop" button in the Transport controls. This sends All Notes Off events through the PipeLines. In MusicBox A, which we've just…
Notation is already in the works. I'll keep you posted.
Barry, Bars&Pipes most definitely supports MIDI Time Code (SMPTE). We support all four frame rates including drop frame. I'm afraid I don't understand the latter part of your question. Could you elaborate? Melissa
(This message continued from the previous one…) The second package in the Bars&Pipes Add-On Series is MusicBox A. This collection includes: Trill (tool) unadorned, modern, lower appoggiatura, beginning turn, ending turn Glissando (tool) chromatic, pentatonic, diatonic, modal slides Amazing Grace Notes (tool) upper, lower, and turn Accompany B+ (tool) density,…
Roy, Blue Ribbon Bakery has just released two new products as part of the Bars&Pipes Add-On Series. The first is the Internal Sounds Kit. With it, you no longer need MIDI to compose and create. We give you the keyboard, we give you the instruments and we give you the…
We're scheduled to add notation as soon as we finish MixMaestro, our] automated mixer for Bars&Pipes. I'll keep you posted.
Yes, you can send patch changes wvia Bars&Pipes. Before I explain how, though, let me mention a few things: We've just come out with a new Tool, featured on MusicBox A, called Quick Patch. It allows you to sent your program change directly on the PipeLine without going into the…
Bars&Pipes actually has only two main working "screens": the Main Screen, featuring the PipeLine, ToolBox and Sequencer, and the Sequence Editor window. Also, you can deal with things on a note by note basis in the latter. Thanks for your input, though!
Steve, We're in the process of adding the following features to Bars&Pipes: real-time classical transcription and scoring graphical editing on stave with standard notation concert-score viewing lead sheet and score printing I expect these features to be in place at some point this summer. Melissa
Sorry, Steve. We can't disclose the file format. We're using it only to create a DMCS to Bars&Pipes converter. Trust me, you wouldn't want to see it. It's a bear to say the least.

I think you've hit upon both reasons. The file format is hellacious. Todor spent an hour just trying to locate where two half notes could be found in the mire of code. We are able to obtain the format because we have an established company and product, but I don't…

This is what I can tell you: Geoff Brown (co-author of DMCS) is no longer at EA. He started his own company called "Resonate" and began development on a music package called "Portrait." Unfortunately, things didn't go smoothly for Resonate and Portrait, in its true form, never made it on…
Blue Ribbon Bakery, Inc. is in ABSOLUTELY NO WAY affiliated with Mimetics Corporation, that company that brought SoundScape Pro MIDI Studio to the Amiga. Todor Fay, co-designer of Bars&Pipes, did program SoundScape, however he was not responsible for customer support. Needless to say, Bars&Pipes is far more evolved than SoundScapes…
I'll keep you posted on Note Off velocity and Bars&Pipes. (You sound like the perfect Beta Tester.) In your letter to me, you asked if Bars&Pipes has a Grace Note Tool. In fact, a Grace Note Tool is included with MusicBox A, which is being released in two weeks. Here's…

We're currently working on a disk of sophisticated Tools such as the Event Converter, which, for example, can let you use your pitch wheel to control mono after-touch events, or any other MIDI event for that matter. The disk includes both Tools that are musical in nature, such as the…
