Thanks for the tip, got that sussed now, but why is it now that if I get about three or four complex objects into 3DS the whole lot corrupts with vectors flying off everywhere? Its driving me mad!!!
There is a patch on the autocad forum library area to fix this, or use DXFIX, a command line interpreter for converting between DXF versions, also found in the AUTOCAD library area.

My meshes imported from ACAD sometimes have a face or section of faces created together with normals on the inside of an object, so when tested or rendered I only get a transparent face. I know that setting the faces materials to two sided would solve this, but how can…
