thanks Peter.. I went ahead with the T400CDT .. just awaiting the backorder now. — Steve
Does the Toshiba 610CT support high-res on the TFT display? (800×600) Does 3DSr4 run acceptably without that 800×600 resolution? Any comments on the Toshiba 400CDT?
#Earth Map ?
Message #168067
I read a while back in this forum of someone mentioning an excellent earth map that was available for download somewhere on CompuServe..? Apparently this excellent earth map was a composite of actual space photographs without clouds (or something..??).. can someone please direct me to that file as soon as…
Thanks Alan.. I'll send him some mail — Steve
#Matrox 3D Chip
Message #150315
I just received the Matrox MGA video board with the built-in 3D rendering chip. According to the manuals and some demos that I've seen, the real-time 3D hardware rendering is supported by AutoCAD. Does 3D Studio have some way to support it too? .. or does it already? — Steve
Thanks for the problem .. I've talked to Jonas and he suggested the clean re-install of 3DS too. I'm in the midst of doing just that and I'll post another message here to see if that's the problem. We've also narrowed the problem to possibly a MSHRES.AXP problem.. I'll keep…
Jonas.. I hate to disappoint you on this roller coaster ride of a problem, but it's actually still NOT working! 🙁 I don't know how or why it worked that ONE time but all subsequent times now it DOES NOT work..! Can you please give me a call tomorrow or…
Hey Jonas! Guess what? It's working! I figured that since you got your side working fine it MUST be something in my config.sys settings or whatever. Anyhow, I started commenting lines out and guess what I came up with? When I commented out the lines: FCBS=… STACKS=… it worked fine.…
>> Please e-mail me your phone number. I'd like to talk to you *live*. Sure.. my phone number is (803) 322-8244 .. I live in South Carolina so you get an idea of the time difference. I'm EXTREMELY sorry to hear that the image rendered correctly! I'll have to sort…
Understandable.. .. I'll be patient for a few more days.. All I can hope is that the problem does indeed happen with that mesh I sent you on your machine! — Steve
Have you been able to take a look at the mesh I sent you yet? Just in case you forgot, it's the field-rendering problem in r4.. — Steve
Nope, no IPAS's.. — Steve
okay, I'll be waiting for your reply.. — Steve, thanks
Did you get a chance to look at that prj file yet? I don't know if you've noticed, but I also uploaded a text file (search for "for jonas") describing the problem exactly. I've done another mesh since the last time we talked and I'm getting the exact same results.…
Oops.. forgot to include the text file.. I'll upload that right away now. It'll be called 3DSTABLE.txt — I'll also include the "for jonas" keywords.. thanks for reminding me. — Steve
Okay, Gary.. well, it's uploaded anyways. It will at least show what I'm trying to convey in words. It shows pretty graphically the field differences. Also, I think I've finally got the problem narrowed down to a reproducible case! I will upload the mesh as soon as I can. Sorry…
I'll go ahead and upload the flic.. it's called TABLE.ZIP.. I'm still working on reproducing the problem with a simple mesh. I'll upload that when I finally get it to do it again.. but if I can't get it simplified, I'll just send the entire mesh to you. But in…

field problem in 3dsr4
Message #142906
Hi anyone. I'm having a strange problem here with my field-rendering in 3dsr4. As I render (from 0-300 frames), the field problem gets progressively noticeable. For example, by the time it is rendering frame 100, one field is correctly rendering frame 100 while the other field looks like it's rendering…
