I'd say that's either a really cheap price for the internal version of the 3401 or it's probably a price for the 3301, the older version, 325ms 150kb CD-ROM reader.

The Toshiba 3401 is a SCSI-2 which will work with any SCSI controller, including real inexpensive 8-bit SCSI cards as long as you have the proper CD-ROM drivers. What will work and won't work on your CD-ROM is dependent on the Hardware, controller and CD-ROM reader as well as the…

I didn't mean to put down Panasonic products. I only meant that Panasonic typically puts out products that finds a compromise between quality and price, which means their products are pretty good but, usually not the best available, but the price is usually pretty good too.

Probably the latter. They are pretty swamped and will need you to call most likely. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting a notice.
