I occasionaly get inexplicable bugs like that (disappearing or shredded faces). You can often fix it by assigning 2 sided materials to the objects, or by forcing 2 sided rendering. Ocean.

Viewpoint in Orem, Utah has a 3d golfball for sale, last I heard they wanted $400 for it, which is a bit steep for me. BTW they have a great catalog of objects for sale, all generally good models, if a bit pricey.
