I've been having a strange problem with Imagine. I was trying to create a "room" scene, 2 intersecting walls & ceiling with various objects inside. I did a few test traces as I went along. After I had about 3 objects in the room, part of the wall & ceiling disappeared on the full trace only (all looks well on color shade or wireframe). It seemed to disappear at about -1500 on the x axis, so I moved everything over to the "+" side of x. Then everything but the ground & ceiling disappeared! I'm running an Amiga 2000 with a GVP3001 board installed, 68030 & '882 coprocessor with 4MB on the daughterboard, so I don't think I'm havng memory problems. Has anyone else come up with "vanishing" objects? Ken Curry

Ken, you must add a Size bar to the Globals actor in the Action Script. The default world size is 1024 on all three axes. Change your XYZ settings to 2048 or higher. This should take care of the problem. Note, world size only affects Trace mode. –Rick

Thanks, Rick. I thought about the world size, like in TS, but I found the part of the manual that said there was no limit in Imagine. I think that should do it. Ken

The supposed technique to fix this is to add a size line to globals in the Action editor, increasing the world size to something large enough to encompass your scene, but I found that didn't fix it. The working solution is to shrink your scene so it will fit into the 1024 area aroung the axis. Again, I don't know if the default size of 1024 means that you have 1024 in all directions away from the axis, or if its only 512 on all axes, for an area of 1024 cubed. Rick?

Changing global size only affects Trace mode. The default size of 1024 on every axis, ie. -1024 to +1024. –Rick

I think there's something else going on here, Scott. I followed your advice (by the way, thanks — sorry the thanks are so late, but my telecomm setup got all gummed up after I got your message) and I shrank all my objects so the whole scene was well within 1024 in all directions. I still lose objects in both scanline and trace. I wonder if this could be a memory problem — the scene I'm working with contains a LOT of points. Rick, do you have any thoughts on that? -Brian

Brian, memory may be a problem, although I've never lost objects in scanline mode. I guess the best bet would be to do several test renders, adding one object per frame. This could indicate where the problem begins. Also, 1.0 has been found to have problems with objects manipulated at the Stage Editor. It might behoove you to re-save the objects in their proper orientation in the Detail Editor. –Rick

Thanks, Rick. I'll try both and report any results back. -Brian

Scott, I took Ricks advice about the global size line, and it worked fine for me ( thanks, Rick ). I hadn't been having any problems in scanline or wireframe modes though. I did have some strange & similar quirks with TS until I expanded my memory. 4MB seems to be handling everything I've done so far.
