Pen Pal and Oki's
3 messages in this thread
Woody,
I got the latest version of Pen Pal in the mail (It's registered
in my wife's name (Elisa) here in the Rocket City.)
Pen Pal is on our Amiga 2000HD with an Okidata Microline 92
connected to the parallel port. The self-test shows Rev. 5. (I'm talking
about the printer self-test. The revision level tells you that it is not
an IBM compatible according to an Okidata rep.)
The first time we try to print something from Pen Pal, we always
get the left margin moved over to start past the middle of the page. After
we cancel from the printing menu and power off the printer and then turn
the printer back on, it then runs correctly. Is your Okidata printer
driver (or mine) trying to initialize the printer incorrectly? What is the
fix, or what do I look for?
Sincerely, (Mr.) Gayle Lee Fairless

The only printer drivers we include with Pen Pal are the ones from C=. I
wish I had a quick fix for your problem. It does sound like an
initialization problem. I have not heard of the problem from other users.
Are you using the latest version of Parallel and Printer devices? Have you
tried installing the printer driver on Pen Pal's program disk, booted with
that disk, and tried printing?
Sincerely,
Woody
Woody,
No, I haven't tried any changes to the printer problem. That's the
only glitch. Even my 12-year-old son feels comfortable using your program.
I'll try to take careful note of a solution or the exact procedure that
eliminates the problem.
Oddly enough, the problem didn't show up when I did a letter. You
may wish to note that I use the indented block form. That is, the first
lines (which are my address and the letter's date) are starting in the
middle of the page.
Sincerely,
