Lattice-problem
3 messages in this thread
I just started learning to program in C with the Lattice C compiler. MY
problem has to do with the screen editor that comes with the compiler.
After typeing in my program I save it to df0: I than compile the program
from LSE (the screen editor). It than creates a file (eg. hello.o) in the c
directory
of the compiler. First, shouldn't the compiler make a file called 'hello'
(no extensions) as well as a 'hello.lnk'? And second, how can I get the
compiler to write everthing to df0:?
I have an Amiga 2000 with a 40 meg hard drive. I'm useing the SAS/C
Compiler for AmigaDOS Version 5.10 (the lattice c compiler) and its located
on my hard drive at FH1:Lc/c.
Thanks for your help.

Paul,
You need to tell LSE (the editor) the correct compiler options. By
default, I think it is "-oram", which means put objects in ram: (or maybe
its rad:, it's been awhile so anyone else correct me if I'm wrong…hehe).
I believe Ctrl-F4 will let you change the options. Press <HELP> to check
for sure. Anyways, you need to add the option "-L" which means link to
executable. So I think you want the options to be "-oDF0: -L". In fact,
those are, I just loaded LSE and checked. CASE is IMPORTTANT! Type
exactly as it is, minus the quotes of course. Good luck! I bought Lattice
C and it gathered dust for about a month. I recommed reading the
"Commands" part of the reference manual…

Paul,
First you should go the C library here and download the 5.10a update from
Lattice and install it. The other thing is to use the"options" icon from
workbench (seems like you are a workbench user, no?) and select "Object
Options". On the screen that appears click on the "Enable Link from LSE"
option. If you then look into the file, SASCOPTS you should see a -L entry.
The .o file is a compiler output of a linkable object. You then have to run
blink to link that object with, at minimum for a main function, the c.o
startup code supplied with the compiler and set for library searches in
lc.lib+amiga.lib. From workbench, all these options can be set from the
Options icon execution. Look at page G20-11 thru G20-18 for the
documentation of these features. Mark these pages with a post-it as they
are not ref'd in the TOC or index at all!!! You may also need to add to
your startup-sequence the statement assign LSE_FILES: LC: you can also use
the Starter Project drawer duplication method to set up project drawers
which I find very useful. That will also help control where the output
files end up.
