#2.04 and 2090 problems.
9 messages in this thread
I just purchased 2.04 and installed it. I have a 2090 controller and a
ST506 type drive (40 Meg) in my system. How can I get the HDTools to
recognize my controller/drive? I went through the manual about 1000 times
and couldn't find anything about a 2090 or AT type drives (did CBM forget
that 3/4 of the world is still running these sloths?). I keep getting the
"Driver not installed" message trying to "Prep" my drive with the HDToolbox
prog. I know the drive is "there" I can access it by booting and manually
mounting the puppy. However, this is not quite what I had in mind… Any
suggestions? Thanks, Gary
HDtoolbox will not work with the 2090 drive. That particular drive must be
accessed as you have been doing – with booting and then manually mounting
the drive. I lived through the 2090 days and have now forgotten all those
old mount commands :-).

I do think thre was a new HDDisk in the expansion drawer of my A3000
install disk.
-Greg
Greg: it wasn't really 'new'. It just let 2090 owners install 2.04
without having to first boot from their old 1.3 Workbench disk.

OK. Well, it was a 2.04 compatible version, no?

Yes. I'm not sure if that actually required making any changes, though.

Gary,
Use the software that came with the A2090 to PREP your drive, just
as you did under 1.3.
By the way, the entire drive may now be FFS.
Don
Don, same thing for the A2090A?
After PREPing the boot partition, reboot, then format with FFS – is that
it, the boot partition with the A2090A can now be FFS?

Kelly,
Yup…for the 2090A, you need to run the stuff for autoboot, but it
can all be FFS now.
