#UUSCR Executable Dir?

Hi, I downloaded uusrc.lzh (the uucp program sources) today, but I'm having a bit of a problem with the archive. I THINK I got it downloaded and lharc'd OK, but the README file refers to a directory containing executables and I can't find that directory in either the unarchived files or in an 'lharc -x l uusrc.lzh'. The thing that really concerns me is that the README says that no source for the 'TAR' executable is available and that I should be sure not to delete that executable; which is NO PROBLEM because I don't have it to begin with! Can anyone who's gotten this download to work shed some light? Happy Communing – Norvel

Norvel, There were a total of 3 archives that were part of that UUCP distribution – the sources (which you downloaded), and two archives of executables and documentation. I believe the executable files ended up in Library 5 of AmigaUser – look for the files "UUCP1.LZH" and "UUCP2.LZH". Hope this helps…. …BobR

Bob, Thanks, very much for such a prompt and helpful reply. I'll try to get the rest.

Norvel, I have not looked for that file, but since the name is UUSRC, I would guess that the source and the executables were placed in two different archives. That is done here often. Lots of people want only the executables, and save money by not having to download the source – or vice versa. Look in the library and I suspect you will find the executables in another file. Betty

Betty, Thanks for your reply. Bob Rakosky pointed me to DL 5 in AMIGAUSER, where I found the executable form of UUCP. One of the files mentioned in the UUSRC README is in this Archive, but one 'DCC' isn't. However, I got 'DCC' by downloading DICE, Matt Dillon's C compiler package, so I should be all set. Unfortunately, the version in AMIGAUSER also has the source, so I ended up downloading that source twice. 🙁 Thanks, again, for your help. Happy Communing – Norvel
