I'm a new Amiga 2000 user. I got AmigaDos 1.3 with my system last month. Now I've been hearing about AmigaDos 2.0. Do you need a 3000 to run 2.0? If not, why are they shipping units now with 1.3? Thanks. Rick Brenner [70150,400]

Rick, AmigaDOS 2.0 has not been released for the A2000 as yet. There is a version shipping with the A3000, but it is not the final version. I believe that Commodore plans to wait to release 2.0 for the A2000 when it has been finalized and committed to ROM. David – via Whap!

Rick, 2.0 is not yet ready for final release. The A3000 machines require it, so they are using a preliminary release. The final version is not far off now, but has not yet been put into ROM. You will want it when it is ready, but not before! It will make your Amiga feel like a new machine, even more wonderful than what you have now. So, just enjoy what you have, and when the new version is out, you will be able to upgrade. Betty

I don't know how much truth there is in this, but my dealer _swears_ that 2.0 is to be delivered within week or two at his shop. I expressed a fair amount of incredulity at this, but he says its what he's been told. He's reserving a package for me, so when (and _if_) it comes I'll be one of the first in the area. You never know, sometimes these things happen when you least expect it. Why, after seven years in the engineeing 'dungeon', my aerospace company decided that us engineers deserved ceilings, carpets, and are changing the office decor which was installed in 1950. And we didn't even have to threaten anyone!

Doug, From what I read on several other boards, I'd be muchly surprised to see 2.0 within the next two weeks – but not withing the next six or eight. I rather doubt that the ROMS are burned and the books printed, etc., at this time. On the other hand, I've been wrong many a time! Betty
