ZOOM 9600 ext Modem
12 messages in this thread
Thanks for the advice concerning the ZOOM 9600 modem, and sorry for taking
so long to come back to you. Most of the boards I call are either V32 or
DS, so I'll probably go V32. Thanks again.

Bob Saw your message and that you are from East London like me ,can we buy
ZOOM Modems in the UK ?
Mark
Hi Mark,
I don't think you can buy ZOOM in the UK, and you wound'nt want to
anyway, as is would be marked up in the usual way. If I buy a ZOOM, I will
probably import from a US supplier such as Doirect Micro (here on CIS) that
delivers to the UK.
Hope that's helpful. BTW I still can't decide between the ZOOM (big, but
available now) and the SUPRA v32bis (neat but not yet shipping) what do you
think?

Bob,
I am using the latest beta-version of the SupraFAXModem V.32bis. Supra
Engineering gave it to me on Saturday and It works great!! I believe the
product magager will approve this version for max production which means
huge piles of boxes will start shipping in about two weeks.

Hi Alan
Thanks for the info.
Tell me, are Supra doing fax software for the amiga that will use this
modem, or is there any stuff out there that we can use to send fax via this
exciting new modem?

Bob
We now have fax software for the Amiga. It is called GPFax, it is from
down-under(Australia) and looks really good.

Kenny,
Does GPFax support ARexx?
Alan: I am interested in the modems that Supra produces. Specifically, I
was thinking about the 2400+ zi, the internal modem for the A-3000. The
question I have for you is: Does it auto-dial, and is it compatible with
other terminal programs besides the A-Talk III that is packaged with it?
Finally, does it include some type of driver to allow the computer to
access the board?
It would be nice to get an internal modem like that, since it would free up
the serial port for future expansion, such as a TNC or RTTY modem. The 9600
external sounds nice, but they tend to be a bit pricey! <grin> Thanks for
your help!

Dave,
It can auto-dial as long as the software handles auto-dialing. It will
work with any terminal program that allows you to choose the device driver
to work with. Yes it includes modem0.device which is a replacement for
serial.device that allows you to talk to the board.

Bob, Well I don't know that much about the modems in question although I do
like the look of the Supra Models. Do you have any idea of how much they
would cost if you bought one through CIS once the shipping charge has been
added?
MARK
Well Mark, I'm not sure what shipping on a supra would cost, I would guess
$20 max, but it may be worth taking a look in the mall and asking some of
the merchants, they are usually quite helpful.
