>I've seen various messages before listing features of Comeau C++ at various >times, but unfortunately haven't kept any of them (since at the time I dodn't >think I'd be doing C++ on the Amiga. If the press release doesn't address all your questions, by all means ask about anything that does not seem clear. >Oh, well …). If you could possibly re-post the platforms that Comeau exists >on, and possibly a comparison with BC++, it would be a big help. Thanks … The announcement will contain some of that. As to the comparison: What we are comparing is a very robust, complaint, low-cost, well supported compiler (Comeau C++) to a value added, IDE'd compiler (Borland C++). Which to get depends upon what you are looking for.

Greg – Thanks for the reply – I've saved it this time 8^). Is the press release you mention upcoming or already available? I'll pass on this information to the other parties involved (in fact, you may have directly or indirectly communicated with them already). I already own the latest version of SAS/C, so that's no problem. I'll check out the release as soon as I find out where it is 8^). Thanks … Harry

The press release for Comeau C++ 3.0 With Templates for AmigaDOS is now available. I put it in "Hot New" Section 3.

Greg, Due to the unique circumstances, I don't think that my upgrade fits the "50% of the purchase price you paid" <grin>. Does it put me in the 50% of the current purchase price category? Peter

>Due to the unique circumstances, I don't think that my upgrade fits the "50% >of the purchase price you paid" <grin>. Does it put me in the 50% of the >current purchase price category? If I am correct, you won your copy of Comeau C++ 2.1 due to the roll of an electronic dice in a formal CO I gave about C++ (time for another one??). I'm not out to bust chops ;-), but what do all you losers thing? Should we upgrade Peter for free since he won the toss on the other version, or should be charge him double?
#21192From: Peter SmithemMar 6, 1992 6:19 AM
Double!!!! Don't I get the special discount for the terminally unemployed <grin>? Peter
#21193From: SyndesisMar 6, 1992 9:11 AM
You mean the Amiga developer discount, right? 🙂
#21205From: Peter SmithemMar 6, 1992 12:46 PM
Yeah, that's the one!
#21225From: Kelly JordanMar 6, 1992 9:47 PM
Gee, I'm not working – maybe I should become an Amiga developer, too!!

Kelly, being in the ranks, I'm thinking along the same line <grin> Brian

Well, nobody has come to your defense yet? 😉
#21206From: Peter SmithemMar 6, 1992 12:58 PM
Apparently not. I wonder what sort of appeal would work. ;^)

>I wonder what sort of appeal would work. Beats me. Why not tell us a good joke and see what you fair from that?
#21374From: Peter SmithemMar 10, 1992 7:25 AM
>Why not tell us a good joke… That will NEVER work, I'm horrible at jokes. ;^) Peter

Actually, I think that you should charge him tripple and use the extra money to send me and Steve Ahlstrom a copy 🙂 :-).
#21378From: Peter SmithemMar 10, 1992 9:38 AM
Ah, come on John, gimme a break. ;^) Peter
#21393From: John Toebes/SYSOPMar 10, 1992 5:50 PM
Well, I didn't see you offering to share it with me, now did you? Next thing I know, you will tell us that you also won the publisher's clearing house sweepstakes… Enjoy.
#21510From: Peter SmithemMar 12, 1992 2:55 PM
Share it? I don't think Greg or ATT would be too happy about that. ;^) If I win the publisher's clearing house sweepstakes I'll buy you as many copies as you want! Peter

Finally a ray of hope. Ok, we will do such. However, the free 3.0.1 upgrade is going to be double for him. 3.0.2 is going to be triple, and 4.0 is going to be quadruple.

Great. Do _I_ win a copy for being such a nice guy? (duck, fast) Shraddhan – via Whap! from Hertfordshire in the UK

#21511From: Peter SmithemMar 12, 1992 2:55 PM
I guess I'll be using 3.0 for a LONG time ;^) Peter
#21577From: Greg Comeau@Comeau CmptgMar 13, 1992 6:16 PM
>I guess I'll be using 3.0 for a LONG time ;^) Sound like you got your package. Great stuff, no? 😉
#21607From: Peter SmithemMar 14, 1992 12:53 AM
Actually, I didn't get the package yet. The shipping address you had was for the place I worked until last Nov. A friend saw it come in addressed to me and put it aside for me. I don't know when it showed up, but he called me about it today. I have to get down that way and pick it up. Peter

>shipped to last place Boy, you're one trouble maker! 😉
