Thanks. If you're interested in things like economic modeling, I suppose I
would refer you to the Santa Fe Institute (in Santa Fe). They have a lot
of people doing interesting things, and if you called them I think they
would be able to direct you to timely source material at various levels of
technical difficulty. Then you could see for yourself which of you math
skills need honing.

I suppose I'll call Santa Fe. They seem to have trouble keeping me on
their mailing list. Also, when they ran a time series prediction
competition in the fall, nobody could explain to me how to dial directly
into their BBS, since everyone was using Internet.
I've run across references to a book with a title like "The Economy as a
Dynamic Evolving Process" (I don't even think I'm close on that one). Are
you familiar with it? I hate to order books from publishers over the phone
when I haven't had a chance to browse through them.
