Can anyone help me with a problem I have. I have a standard Amiga 500 and would like to connect it to my AYDIN RANGER 21" (5221) Multisync Monitor. The problem is, I beleive, that the AYDIN monitor will ony synchronise to horizontal frequencies between 30KHz and 80Khz and the amiga syncs at below thirty. Is there anything that can be done or am I stuffed!! Many Thanks In Advance Andy…..

Well, the Amiga horizontal scan rate is 15.75 KHz, so that won't work. But you can always install a Flicker Free Video. Craig

I believe the suggested retail for FFV is $299, but I am not positive. It should be available for less. It fits in any Amiga, automatically switches between NTSC and PAL, and gets rid of interlace flicker. Craig

Hmm.. if it's called a 'Multisync' or 'Multiscan', it should sync down to the 15,750 of the A500. If it's called a 'VGA monitor', it probably won't sync that low. -larry

Andy, Yea, you can sell me that monitor!!!!!(cheap) The only other option is with ICD's Flicker Free Video adapter. It is a deinterlacer that removes the scan lines and the intlerlace flicker and boosts the video signal up to a usable range for that monitor. ..Steve Whap!ping from beautiful coastal South Carolina

Andrew, While I can't speak for your particular monitor, a friend of mine (with a 500) has the ICD Flicker Free Video, (I have the microway flicker fixer in my 2000). He is really pleased with it and he is a heavy gamer. I do notice a little more motion blur with his FFV vs my flicker fixer and both have more than a stock machine with 1084, but it barely noticable on either, I do think you wouuld be happy with the FFV. The FFV also has the advantage of being switchable between PAL and NTSC. I am really envious of the 20" monitor!!! I just would like an affordable 16"!
