AMOS Compiler Seg Files

Help!
Has anyone been able to get AMOS 1.3 to read a sequential file when
_compiled_. There is a readme file with the compiler that warns that you
must initialize a floating point variable in your main program before
reading a seq file, to tell the compiler that it must load a floating point
version of the VAL routine, and I _think_ I'm doing what is required.
Nevertheless, the compiled program crashes when reading a very simple seq
file, which is read without problem by the interpreted version. What may I
be missing?

Dick,
I work with AMOS 1.3 but have not attempted what you're trying.
Sorry… but wanted you to know someone at least sees your message.

Tim,
Thanks for the reply. You don't happen to know of a really active forum
for AMOS users do you? I have this strong love/hate feeling about AMOS
that I'd really like to share with a few others.

Dick,
I'm starting to get that impression from some AMOS folks.
To be honest, I don't know of any active AMOS forum. I'm not sure
how many Amigans that use this forum use AMOS either.
My feeling is that some of the more "Microsoft-like" BASIC features,
like file i/o, device support, etc., are not AMOS's strong suit.
I've been very pleased so far with the graphics abilities (what I've
used so far).
See ya,
Tim
