Anyone have any idea what causes the bridgeboard to die with an "Internal Error, Stack Overflow, System Halted" causing me to have to reset the 2286 bridgeboard with pchard? This seems to happen when I am using some specialized communications software that I use to talk to a host system at my office. Does not happen at any particular time, or for any apparent reason, just randomly under different conditions. The software does use a special device driver, and seems to work fine 95 % of the time! Also I saw mention to a product by ATOP to enhance the speed of the 2286, anyone have any feedback on this product for use in a 2500??? sounds GREAT To me, wonder what kind of NORTONS SI ratings it might produce if it works ok! Any feedback on either issue would be greatly appreciated!!!! Craig send

Craig… I have a 2000 with an 030 board (basically a 2500), and the ATOP works fine, except for AMOUSE. However, the ATOP guy says some people have AMOUSE working and others don't (maybe because of the 030?) Otherwise the ATOP is great. As to "stack overflow", do I understand correctly that you have the Bridgeboard on a network? Commodore has said it doesn't work with networks (being a sort of pseudo network) itself, though I know people who say it's fine. Marion CROSSINGS Newsletter for the Bridgeboard

Marion: Thanks for the prompt reply, and I appreciate the insight on the ATOP product, sounds most interesting, and worthy of consideration. As for the network question, no, the system is not running on a network, just using some specialized telecommunications software on a serial card drive a 9600 baud modem to dial into my office. The software does however use a device driver which appears in the config.sys to manage the serial port. I have things configured in a similar way I would use on a dedicated PC, however, I get the Stack Overflows on the 2286. Any Ideas? Thanks again for your help!! Craig

You know whats REAL odd Marion? I have the STB multi-function card from ATOP also, and guess what? It lets me use COM2 with no problems!!! Blew me away! I have a 2400 baud modem running off it (in fact im typing this on it via Q-Modem). I don't understand how it is working but it is…I guess there is just no end to the Bridgeboard quirks! Tim

Tim… I suspect the problem with com2 is not the port address itself but the interrupt it uses. Perhaps your setup uses a different one. As you say…there's no end to it! Marion CROSSINGS Newsletter for the Bridgeboard

Marion, Yep, after foling with it a bit more, I relised that I had changed the address from F to E and that seemed to be what made com2 work…odd this beast!
