Help!!!!! I purchased a 1meg Agnes (8372A) for my A500 (Rev. 5 motherboard). I followed the modification directions completely. I cut the trace between the two pads next to the 68000 and soldered a jumper to other pad. I cut the jumper going to pin 32 of the Gary chip. The AVAIL command shows I have 1meg chip ram. Everything seems to work fine EXCEPT for two programs. One is MED v3.0 (a shareware Music EDitor) and DPaint III. Since MED is shareware, I'm not that worried about it. But DPaint III is major product for the Amiga. If it is incompatible with the new Agnes, I'm sure somebody out there has seen this problem. When I try to draw, I get strange colors and patterns randomly placed on the screen. It sometimes occurs when use the pulldown menus! Once it starts it won't go away (even if I exit DPaint) until I power down. It seems to occur more often when I am running from my hard disk. I removed the HD and ran from floppy and it still occurs (although much more drawing can be done before the trash appears). This is actually the second Agnes I received. The first never did work at all. I returned it and got second one and made sure it was a different lot number. I can't imagine getting two that are bad so I am assuming that is either something with my system or with the two programs. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE to respond. I have racked my brain for possibilities. Is it that my A500 can't be upgraded? Do the Gary and Denise chips need to be upgraded? Do I need an upgrade for DPaint III? Am I a fool for even attempting this? HHHHEEEELLLLPPPP!!!!! Mark Kelley 70771,176

Mark, DPaint III does have a problem with the Fat Agnus (1 meg). I had the same problem. If you call EA and tell them what you have they will have you send them the original disks and replace them with a version that will work properly with your new Agnus. I had no problems with the upgraded version. BTW you can get DPaint IV for $67 as an upgrade by sending them the front page from your manual. EA is also online in the gamepub forum. Mike, Thanks for the info. I'll call EA and check on it. Mark
