Ben: How about getting some of your more talented and creative IM customers to put together a tutorial that BBS can sell. You could assign specific chapters to different people and then offer them a portion of the proceeds (and/or upgrades) as compensation. By using outside sources to write the individual chapters (ie: MASKS, MORPHS, BUFFERS, F/X, etc) you wouldn't have to use your in-house talent except for editing. I'd love something that was printed hardcopy with an examples disk, or, (if you don't think you could sell enough to be worthwhile- or keeping up with the upgrades would be too difficult) a Bulletin Board version where you could just download the whole shebang (text) and the images (examples) as you needed them. I'd think that a $39.95 or $49.95 retail is about what I'd pay for a tutorial book with a disk of examples. Michael ….from the north coast

We're looking at solutions, Michael – tutorials are needed no question, and I'm willing to edit such a thing… have to see if anyone was interested in contributing. Big project. –Ben

>>> "Big project" Yeah… monumental really, if you want to keep it up to date. That's why I suggested user submitted chapters. Hope you can do it. Michael ….from the north coast

Ya know Mike, I have felt the same way about tutorials/examples. I need a way to get over the hump and really start doing some wild things with IP/IM, but a few of the concepts in the program are still foreign to me. Sometimes there is a feature described where after the details of how it works, I need a statement such as > This feature would be used for…<. This was done with the description of the new Shadow f/x and I was making neat shadows in no time. It's is a challenge keeping up with the state-of-art; and lots of fun. Hey, Ben knows we need 'em…we'll get 'em. And I too would pay for them, in a second. Later. John

You will get them, too. :^) –Ben

GEE, Ben… I'm sure you could find SOMEONE who would be interested in such a project, IF you could furnish enough INCENTIVE <grin>. Btw, did anybody tell what prompted my visit to SoCal? <grin again>. Gimme a call and I'll tell you. The number is 714-253-2828… Ask for the small furry one <grin for the last time this message> –Eet–

I think so too! <grin> Tho I'm sure your opinion is far from universal 🙂

Michael, this does not quite fit into your concept of BBS-financed, chapter-sized tutorials, but I _do_ intend to share a small tutorial with the larger world, once the project I'm working on is done. The tutorial will feature JPG'd images, a text file, and an ARexx macro to describe how I animated a Make Shine to have a logo turn to gold in a flash of light. (This project was the reason why Load/Save Mask was added to the latest upgrade, by the way) Perhaps other users will follow suit, describing their pet ImageMaster project. Blaq!
