WINDOWS Can't Read Drive

Gary, this is an easy one. The problem is with NDW, and Norton is well
aware of it and will fix it in the next version. For now there is nothing
you can do about it. Just click on 'CANCEL' when you get the error message
and windows will load normally. Of course if there is already a CD in the
drive you will not get the error message. I got this information from the
Norton forum here on Compuserve. —-Dwight
Thanks for the info. However, there is always a CD in the drive, and I
still get the error message.
Jumping in here – but I've done a bit of problem solving with our cd server
and netware and windows. Do you want to tell me the problem? Danny.
Danny, I was responding to Gary's problem with Norton Desktop. If you load
Norton Desktop as your Windows shell, you get an error message, "error,
cannot read from drive D." This only happened to me if there was no CD in
the drive. Norton seems to see the CDROM drive as a Network drive and thus
gives the error message. Norton says that they will have a fix in the next
version. Gary now indicates that he even gets the message when there is a
CD in the drive. I don't have a clue, do you? -Dwight
