500 Upgrade Help Needed

@ all 500 Upgrade help needed S2 RE; Good Day!
I have an amiga 500, with 1Meg (A501) and one external drive. I am
interested in upgrading, and would like your input. I have need to be IBM
Compatible, (for work purposes) and have a hard drive. I am interested
about the internal systems but am worried about heat, and compatibility
(there is only so much room in a 500!).
What about the differances between the ATonce and PC-Power board, any
problems with either? All I will be running for now is Office Writer on
the PC side.
Looks more like External HD system may be best. What about IDE and SCSI
pros and cons?
Any and ALL opinions are welcome and *GREATLY* appreciated!

If you get the IDE and HD package (or just get the IDE), you will be unable
to use the ATonce IBM emulator.
IDE sits in the 68000 chip slot, and the 68000 sits on top of that.
ATonce sits in the 68000 chip slot, but has a new 68000 chip built in.
If you try to fit ATonce into the 68000 chip slot on the IDE, it won't fit
all the way in. The cable going from IDE to the HD sits up and prevents
the ATonce from fitting securely into the 68000 slot.
There is NO way to rectify this.
Also, if you have board rev6A of the Amiga, you can't use ATonce without
some soldering modifications.
I've found all this out the hard way.

Thank You Dave!
Sorry that you had to find out the hard way, but I am glad that you passed
this info on!! Hope everything is going better now!! BTW…have you heard
about the A592? Makes this little 500 a CDTV! Looks like another piece of
hardware I can't live without (Eventually) and one that my wife won't be
able to live with!
Have a great day!

No, I haven't heard of the A592. Do tell!
<Dave>
All I know is that it is a new product *Supposedly* on the market (or
soon!) that uses the 500 to drive a cd unit. After all the CDTV is a 500
with a CD instead of a disk drive. All I know is what was in AMIGA WORLD
this month. A short little teaser for those of us eager for the technology
without buying all new systems!!
Anything you hear will not fall on deaf ears here!!
