#DP IV Color Cycle???
4 messages in this thread
Hi All:
I can't quite seem to get Deluxe Paint IV to do color cycle animation. I
can get DP III to work just fine with color cycle animation. Also, I can
get DP IV to do it if I load the tutorials from the disks. But, If I load
the default settings I can't make it go.
When I load the default settings, I go into color range, click to select
color range 2, move the little color icons up on the range bar to get a
nice spread, then click OK. Then I go to the fill requester. It shows color
range 2 and when I click on something other than solid (say I click on
line), it shows a nice color spread in the requester. If I then draw a
filled circle, it shows up with the same nice color spread I originally got
in the range requester. Then when I hit the tab key to start the
cycle…nothing happens.
I know I'm doing something wrong, but I can't quite figure out what. The
DPaint IV manual leaves a lot to be desired in this area. I keep thinking
I'm not getting my range selection hooked up to the cycle function somehow.
As I noted, if I use the cycle animations loaded from the tutorial disks, I
can do cycle animations just fine by creating new pictures using that
palette…..but I don't like that palette. Any ideas ?

In the range box where you pick your colors, look at the lower
left corner for the cycling speed. Maybe it is set to zero (left).
Try dragging it to the center or far right and press TAB to see if
that gets it going.
Hope this helps.

You were absolutely correct. Once I increased the cycle speed from zero,
everything went perfectly well. Thanks. For some reason, when I looked at
"rate", I thought it meant the rate at which the color change would occur
in the blending of the range of colors, not the rate of color cycling.
