Animator Pro HiRes Mode?

Running 386DX 33MHz / 8Mram, Diamond Stealth "S3" card, NEC 3D monitor…
How do I get Animator Pro into HiRes mode? Currently the only displayed
option is 320×200 even though the Stealth card is claimed to support VESA
BIOS functions with no need for external loaded BIOS extensions. Even
without VESA compatibility the NEC 3D/Stealth combination will run
1024×780. I am under the impression that A-Pro needs no special drivers and
should recognize VESA BIOS availability without assistance.
This is incredibly vexing! HELP!!!
I just installed a Trident VGA 512K (which replaced my obsolete 8k board);
I had to load its own driver. Then I went into the EXTRAS window to select
SCREEN SIZE. I found my mode (which in my case is 640×480) Sometimes you
have to open that windiow twice. I hope though, that someone has a better
idea, but at least that should get you in.

I also just installed a Diamond Stealth V-RAM video card into my 486/33 and
experienced precisely the same inability you describe in seeking to run
Animator Pro at 640×480 resolution. I called Diamond tech support and was
told that I need a free BIOS upgrade for my "new" Stealth card, which they
promised to send immediately.
Diamond has not only turned out a number of BIOS upgrades in the past month
or two, but they've moved several generations beyond even the latest "beta"
drivers on their own BBS (from Beta 1.11 to 2.4 or something like that).
I'm led to believe that the new BIOS alone may be enough to achieve VESA
compatibility with Animator Pro.
It seems rather surprising to receive a brand new card so recently released
and discover its already a few generations old. Here's hoping that the
promised BIOS update does the trick…

I think that the problem was perhaps not initially Diamond's fault. I
think that S3 has some problems with their VESA compatibility, and I think
that Diamond based their ROM's off of what S3 provided and carried the
problems through.
I believe that both firms are working on this issue, and it should be
resolved soon.
