#3DSr2 is on schedule!
4 messages in this thread
Last week, I promised that I'd post the status of the 3DSr2 release
schedule. Good news… TODAY, the Autodesk software quality assurance
people have released the 3.5" and 5.25" floppy versions (8 disks each) to
the production department. This means that there are zero KNOWN problems
with the program or sample files. (I know, it's software, and I'm sure
that our intrepid users will find SOMETHING wacky, but it ain't gonna be
easy!)
I can't describe how good this would feel if I had any feelings left.
Plus, the "3DSr2 Bulletin" update for dealers and registered users
regarding the upgrade program is going to mailed out FIRST CLASS tomorrow,
Tuesday 3/24. If any of you folks on the forum who are registered users
don't get their bulletins by 3/30-3/31, contact your dealer and/or Autodesk
customer service.
If all goes well with the myriad of other components in the package, like
the 3 manuals, CD-ROM, etc, we expect to start ramping up to ship "live"
copies this Friday, 3/27. By next Monday, the loading dock ought to be
flowing with this stuff. (It'll be fun to show up at the Bay Area 3DS
users group meeting this Saturday in Sausalito with a shrinkwrapped package
to rip up.)

Gary,
I finally had time to try some of the new features on r2 and I must
congratulate you for the path editing feature. Wow! It provides another
level of control and creation and the ability to do very "fine tuning."
I particularly like to use the paths with the "show cone" feature on the
camera. It can save one from hours of fussing to get things right.
r2 definately means "less-work-for-mother."

Thanks Alec… I can't wait to see what you visualize next!
See you Saturday at the UG meeting I hope.

Gary, if the improvements from 1.0 to 2.0 continues to the next
version…IMHO, you guys (adesk/yost group) will OWN the market.
