Can someone tell me what is the current price for a used A3000?
A guy is trying to sell his Amiga A3000 with the following configurations
for $2000:
6 Meg Ram
50 Meg HD
25 Mhz Co-pro.
1080 Monitor
DCTV
AmigaDos 2.0
Softwares, such as Imagine, etc.
Is this a good deal?
I've never own an Amiga before, so what should I look for in the A3000?
Any help appreciated?
That sounds like a very good deal to me. It sounds like a 25MHz machine,
which right now are going brand new for about $2500. The DCTV retails for
$399.95. The monitor is a little old, but will do just fine. And if he has
other large powerful packages like Imagine, then you'll have a lot of
applications to learn and use. Sounds great to me. If you don't buy it,
tell me. I will. 🙂

The monitor won't "do just fine" unless you want to be stuck with 640×200
and not have the use of the display enhancer.

Won't a 1080 display 640×400 (I know it will be interlaced, and will
flicker), and overscan modes?
If you go thru the RGB port, yes — but why have a 3000 and use a
1080? That's rather like having a Porche and putting K-Mart special
tires on it.

He asked if the system was a good deal. I think it is. I told him so. If
I had a 3000 and the money, I would buy a nice, big screen multisync.
Doesn't K-Mart sell multisyncs? 🙂

My message was prompted by your "the monitor … will do just fine". I do
not believe the 1080 will do "just fine" on a 3000 — for me, it would
reduce the system to less than usable.
darin, are you guys the same folks that do the stuff for ms-dos etc.? if
so, aare suberbase files compatible across multi-platforms? I want to
inintegrate some amigas into my banyan msdos/mac lan. that would be useful

Yes, SPC purchased Precision, Inc., the makers of Superbase, in
September of 1991. They sold all rights to the Amiga/Atari
ST/Commodore 64/128 products to Oxxi, Inc., who currently update and
support the product. Superbase 4 for Windows is updated and
supported by SPC.
Precision never had a network version of Superbase Pro 4, but Oxxi
may be working on one, I don't know. You can contact them at

Depends on which model of the 3000 it is. If it's the 16 Mhz
model, I wouldn't pay that amount. If it's the 25 Mhz model…that'd be a
good price.
