Huh? There are four major computer platforms. You're leaving out the
Atari line of computers.

he would have said "I have seen the TWO major platforms". Getting him to
seriously consider the Amiga was difficult enough… getting him to
consider an Atari is downright impossible, IMHO.
Not that Atari is bad, but he is concerned with the quality and quantity
of software (particulary productivity) available… he sees this as the
major problem with the Amiga… the Atari is, to my knowledge, not
supported as much as the Amiga, which would make the software question a
MAJOR problem… add to that the fact that neither of us knows anyone with
an Atari… you get the drift.

I hear you. But whenever I mention the home computer platforms I'm
always sure to include Atari. I guess Amiga users don't like it when the
Amiga is not mentioned in talk of computer platforms, so I don't want to
be guilty of the same thing. 😎
Also, B&P Pro and SuperJAM! can both be run in hi-res interlace mode.
It sounds like the dealer you went to didn't have most of the software
correctly installed on the machine.

Dom: Point well-taken. Yes, my impression is that the dealer didn't take
much time and effort to install the software properly and in a way that
will demonstrate the capability of the machine. It is very unfortunate,
because my friend could very well turn to the new MAC-III machine. Well,
that's still better than a PC clone! <g>
