#Final Copy II/Printing

is Graphics Priner (Final). When I try to print Graphics Printer (Draft),
nothing happens. I have a HP Laser Jet II and am using Workbench 2.0.
Please advise.

Could you please specify which version of 2.0 you have? You must have
at least 37.175 version of Kickstart and 37.67 version of Workbench.
Anything with a smaller number will not suffice. (You can find out which
versions you have by selecting "About" or "Version" from the "Workbench"
menu on the Workbench screen.)
Also, what printer driver are you using?

Ric,
I saw final Copy II and I really did like what I saw, but alas one of
the major functions that I use in DDP is the ability to see the
invisables(returns, spaces, indents, etc.). Wondering does your new
version support this feature. I would appreciate you answer and then I
will in most cases change over. I do like the interface that you use. Also
I am very happy that this program now supports auto d/l of postscript
fonts. This function is a must!!

Currently, Final Copy II Releases 1 & 2 do not support showing the
hidden characters. It is in the list of suggestions, but it is not,
unfortunately, a priority item. We have quite a few other users that want
other features, and those other features are suggested much more
frequently than the one you suggested. If we ever get enough users
wanting this feature, it'll go in.

If you are taking suggestions:
1. An instant envelope maker.
2. More better tool bar at the top. Not so many things as Microsoft
Word for Windows, but include things like a printing gadget and the font
name and size display. All this selectable as a gadget.
I'll think of some more I'm sure. All and all a very nice program.
BTW, I left you a note in AmigaUser and never heard back from you. I
bought release 1 from a guy here on CI$. I have all disks and docs and a
letter transfering ownership. What procedure do I need to follow to
upgrade to release 2?

First, due to time constraints, I only read sections 1, 6, 9 & 10 in
AmigaUser. If you posted outside of these four areas, you can understand
why I didn't reply.
To make yourself a registered user, send that letter (or a copy) to
SoftWood. Also send a letter of your own asking to become registered in
place of the prior owner. If you have it, write down what the original
registration ID number is somewhere in your letter.
If you'd like to order Release 2 right away, send a check with the two
letters for either $55 (if you have Final Copy) or $25 (if you have Final
Copy II Release 1). The order will be processed as soon as Release 2 is
available.

BTW. About when will Release 2 be ready. With the announment here I
thought it was shipping. Guess I read it wrong.

We ran into a snag that has been fixed. Basically, I am now waiting
for my supervisor (she's in charge of sales and tech support) to give the
green light. I don't know what's holding it up at this moment. I believe
we are waiting for the upgrade disks to arrive.

Thanks for the info. I get you a letter off in the next few days.
BTW. I was recently playing around on a friends system with Microsoft Word
for Windows. I was surprised to see no option for printing the text of a
document as a Graphic. While this looks like a real good program, and like
many IBM type word processors (and unlike Amiga Word Processors) provides
great support for the printer's internal fonts, it does not appear to
print in graphic mode. It seems graphic printing is especially useful for
those, like me, who have 24 pin dot matrix printers and not laser
printers.
What I would really like to see Final Copy (or any other Amiga WP) to
evolve to is a mix of the too. Full internal and download font support for
printers and a graphics mode too. That way the user can balance speed
against quality and make his own decisions.

Doesn't PenPal allow you to mix the printer fonts with graphics?
We have just gotten our upgrades to Final Copy II and PenPal 1.4! My
family rather likes the Softwood word processors because the interface is
easy for them to use!

I don't know about Penpal. I've never used it. Prowrite lets you mix
graphics and printer fonts. I would just have one program do all.
