#Old SIGGRAPH Papers

Does anybody have any idea how do I get a hold on some old SIGGRAPH papers?
More specifically, papers published in SIGGRAPH 79 and SIGGRAPH 89?
San Francisco State University, for one, has back issues bound in their
library. On-the-shelf stuff goes back about 5 years, not certain about previous
issues. Spent a wad at the photocopier there one day, never regretted it.

If you can get online at a University or something, you can do an anonymous ftp
to siggraph.org . They have quite a bit online there and you can probably also
find a file that will give you info on obtaining past papers, etc. Hope it
helps.

To follow up on the Internet idea, the TAPCIS forum has a number of files in
their librarys explaining how to do anonymous ftp file transfers (ARCHIE
searches, and the works) _THRU_ CI$. It really shouldn't cost too much as (if
I understand things correctly) it doesn't cost to receive CIS mail, just to
send it — so the only cost is dl'ing the files you get off Internet from your
CIS mailbox.
I can give you specific file names for the files in TAPCIS, or I could upload
'em here. One in particular is called ZENNET.ZIP (I think) — Zen and the Art
of the Internet.

Gus: Just found out there _is_ a charge for reading Internet mail if you are
on the standard plan. GO CHOICES for more (not much) info.

Well, ditto. I just didn't think about that. How does copyright laws go about
that sort of thing?
Each article says "Permission to copy without fee all or part of this material
is granted" provided it's non-profit and that no identifying info is removed.
The stuff I've copied from the library is eclectic and incomplete. If you're in
a bind I could mass-copy and mail 'em, but it's a few pounds of paper and I'm
not sure you'd get what you're looking for.
I'm assuming you've checked the COMPLIB library here already — last time I
looked, they cut off issues at about 1989. But perhaps this has changed with
CIS's new storage system? And does ACM itself stock back issues?
Are there any universities in your area that have Computer Graphics, either
in-house or through inter-library transfer?
