I am having terrible problems with AAPLAYHI and QEMM386 memory manager. When
the QEMM manager is installed, I cannot play a flic through without the
computer spontaneously rebooting or hanging up. My dealer is having the same
problem. If I remark out QEMM and use HIMEM.SYS, it will work fine, but it is
a real pain to have to get out of 3D Studio or Animator, change the config.sys,
and reboot every time I want to view a flic. The only switch I use with
QEMM386.sys is RAM. Is there another switch or some other solution for this
problem?
View Flic in 3D Studio won't work either – the program just returns to the 3D
Studio screen without playing the flic. I am using an STB Wind/X Video card.
Also, I tried using AAPLAY for Windows, but when I call up AAPLAY, I get a
message that reads, "AAWIN caused a General Protection fault in module
AAPLAY.DLL at 0001:09FF".
My livelihood is closely connected to the Player. It is VERY, (yes, I AM
shouting), annoying to have so many problems just trying to play the flic which
I have created. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

I'm no expert, but I use AniPro, AniPlay, 3DS & Windows with QEMM386 with no
problems. You may have to exclude certain addresses from QEMM. Try,
x=A000-FFFF, and if that works, follow the QEMM instructions or experiment to
find the smallest range. x=A000-B7FF works in my system. For your info, my
QEMM line is (Gateway EISA, with SCSI):
DEVICE=QEMM386.SYS RAM MAPS=0 diskbuf=2 x=a000-b7ff NOSORT TA=20 NR EMB=32768
DOS=HIGH (don't use ,UMB here)
Sorry, but I don't know anything about the STB Wind/X card. I use the old
Diamond Speedstar and everything works. From messages on this forum, several
cards have trouble playing flics from 3DS, but AAPLAYHI and AniPlay should work
fine.

Your problems almost sound like a memory conflict with the video card involved.
(John K. Jordan alluded to this.)
I have QEMM with the RAM statement, and in one computer a Video 7 VRAM II and
in the other a Compaq Qvision. Neither reboots though.
Which version of QEMM? (Recent, right?) Let us know if John's QEMM exclusions
help. You might also check with STB.
