#TIGA driver for AA

Does a TIGA driver for Ainmator Pro exist? I have spoken with the vendor but they don't have one. Specifically, I have a customer that would like to know if there is a TIGA driver for Animator Pro that will allow them to do animations at 640x480x8 (bit planes) in DOS. TIGA board: NDI Volante AT2014 (1MB DRAM, 4MB DRAM)

I don't know if a TIGA driver for AAPro exists. Panacea has a TIGA driver for 3D Studio, according to a brochure I have. You might call them to see if they've since created one for AAPro. (800/729-7420 or 603/437-5022 in New Hampshire.) I think that Vibrant Graphics has one – they're in Austin Texas at 800/937-1711 or 512/250-1711. Nik

Thanks, I already have the NDI drivers for 3DS 2.0 and they work great. I would like to play 640×480 animations with 256 colors in DOS or Windows. I have tried the Windows player with the TIGA in all resolution modes. Using the TIGA drivers for Windows and the AAPLAY for Windows doesn't work; the screen doesn't clean up properly and leaves trails. If I run in standard VGA mode without TIGA it works fine. I really don't care if it doesn't work in Windows and will settle for DOS but I doubt that TIGA is supported for the AA series software. Hal

Hal, We did a TIGA driver for Animator Pro a while back, but it's performance isn't all that spectacular. AP runs best with a fast, memory mapped board and that definitely doesn't describe TIGA. The communications overhead talking to the TIGA board really slows things down. If you're interested in it, I'll send you a copy of it. We don't sell it or support it though so you'd be own your own. Brad, Thanks, I appreciate your offer and heartily accept. Right now I don't care if it is slow, as long as the customer is happy. This should tide us over until we can sell them additional video cards. Chances are, they just want the drivers to preview their work before it goes to video or film and probably keep the TIGA because they can render at 1024x768x24bit planes; renders do look spectacular at that resolution. Brad, Is this TIGA driver something that you would like to upload to this forum? If not, let me know if you have it on a BBS that occasional TIGA customers can access. If you prefer to keep it on an individual basis, that's fine too — we refer folks to Panacea and Vibrant every day. Nik
