Is there a projected date for the release of PageStream 2.2, and is it a major upgrade? Thanks.

Jason From SoftLogik's recent comments, the answer to your questions are "no" anbd "yes" .. i.e. no, there isn't a date yet but it seems like it will be fairly soon … and, yes, it looks like a major upgrade. Mike (Whapping from the UK)

I'm also curious about whether there'll be a problem with chip mem like ProPage; I still have the old agnus.

I hope there won't be that problem too, although I don't have any problems with ProPage and I run A1000s, with 256k chip (but with 2meg fast).

I was wondering if v2.2 of PageStream will use the outline font technology now supported in v2.04 of the Amiga operating system. I am using PageStream 2.1 and it does not recognize the CompuGraphic fonts on the 2.04 WorkBench. (I am using an Amiga 3000.)

I haven't tried the CG workbench fonts with 2.2, but I doubt there is any change. Sorry. (The only one there which you'd want in any case is Letter Gothic.) Mike Soft-Logik Tech Support

Not really related to this thread, but I had an idea for something useful and I was wondering if perhaps it was planned for 2.2. I've oftern had to print multi-page documents on my DeskJet and was wondering how difficult it would be for you to add a "Print <Even|Odd> Pages" type of option. That would allow me to print, say, all odd-numbered pages, flip the paper over, and then print all even-numbered pages. I don't know if this has been mentioned before or not, or if you've mentioned a reson why this can't be done, but it seems like it would be a very useful option. Any thoughts? Thanks … Harry

Even/odd pages is on the wishlist for the next really major upgrade, but it will not be in 2.2. Mike Soft-Logik Tech Support

Harry I have long wanted such a feature in ProPage or PageStream … without it, double sided documents are _very_ time consuming and are one good reason not to use these packages. I would also like to have a binding width feature which would allow odd pages to have a preset offset to the right and even pages a preset offset to the left. Mike (Whapping from the UK)

You can do the binding width thing in PgS by using the Create Columns command on double sided docs. This lets you create columsn inset a set amount from the inside and outside margins. Mike Soft-Logik Tech Support

I'd like to second Harry's idea. There's a lot to be said for printing on both sides of the paper. Btw, you might want to consider printing the pages in backwards order (optionally) for those of use that get tired of having to manually re-order them because of the way our 'stackers' work. This would apply to the 'odd-even' thing also, you _might_ have to do one set one forward, the other backward. But it IS a great idea.

You can already do ascending and descending order. (In Configure Printer.) But I would like to see even/odd added in a future version. Mike Soft-Logik Tech Support

Right!!! (ascending/descending). I oughta _read_ those boxes you guys put up there <grin>

I agree: odd, even printing is a must and available from many word processors. It should be added to PageStream as soon as possible. – Whapp!ng from the North Coast Michael

I second Harry's motion for Even/Odd printing for those who need two sided but don't have a two sided printer. wmc

We have not announced the release date for 2.2 but it will be soon. It is a major upgrade, although it was originally intended as a maintenance upgrade with HotLinks compatibility. HotLinks was not ready, so the upgrade grew. You're still getting it free. (We should have charged $100 for the upgrade and called it 3.0, and then there would be more excitement around here!) You will receive 2.2 free of charge automatically when it is released, if you are a registered owner of 2.0/2.1. If you do not own version 2.0, you can upgrade from other versions by calling Soft-Logik Sales at 1-800-829-8608. Mike Soft-Logik Tech

Mike, there'd be more "excitement," possibly even some casual interest, if Soft-Logic were not still pursuing its long-established policy of advertising the virtues of products that will not actually be available for many, many months. I've had Pagestream for years, and I've been through this A LOT! – via Whap!

Jason, I've been using PageStream since it was first released and I have registered. However, my address has changed since the last update. Who do I contact to notify of my change of address? … same 800 number? Thanks, Mike

Mike: yes, just call 1-800-829-8608 and tell Sales your new address. I'd do that instead of writing, because written changes might take a couple of weeks to get processed, and you'd never know what you might miss in the interim.
