Why not add Playmation to your arsenal? The latest version (1.48) allows DXF
out. I've constructed some funny little characters and plan to use them in a
3DS render for a local baseball team. My tests are fine so I'll certainly go
this route.
Playmation just added a Decal module. Very fast and accurate. Inverse
kinematics is in the wings! Maybe next release. Check it out!

Bob – I just called Egghead to price Playmation and was told it was sold to
another company and is no longer available, but that the new guys, Hash
Enterprises, is coming out with a new product later this month in the $400
range. Does any of that ring any bells? When/where did you get your copy and
what did you pay for it (if you don't mind my asking)? If Hash Ent. has made
hash of the program I'd like to snatch up a copy of the version you have before
they're utterly gone…. Thanks for any info.

David,
It's true. Cineplay will now longer market Playmation. Anjon & Associates
(714 East Angeleno, Unit C Burbank, CA 91501 800-377-8287) was my authorized
sales representative for the product. They will be moving to Vancouver, WA
this summer. They're still shipping.
I bought the main program for $325. and $100. for Render24 (the Dos render
moduel). I'm not sure when the price goes to $500 for Playmation and $200 for
Render24. But around Siggraph time they will offer a Pro version for $1,000.
It now runs on Amiga, PC and Mac. The SGL Indigo version is in the wings. I
don't think its dead, yet!

Thanks, Bob. I can't afford it now, but obviously I'll be less able to later,
so I think I'll go for it….

David,
Playmation is now distributed through Anjon & Associates in Burbank, CA – don't
have the number handy but you could try information or I'll bring one of their
cards home with me tonight. A friend of mine just ordered it so it is alive and
well – just not distributed through the retail channel, I think.
Thanx, Martin. I got the number and ordered it. I'm almost convinced, though
that I must slice up and burn my credit cards. I'm about to spend all but my
last hundred bucks on my new 486/66 and I've ordered 8 more megs of RAM and
Playmation totalling about $700 more. {Pardon me, could you move your foot? I'm
looking for my marbles…I've lost them around here SOMEwhere…..) <sickly G>

David,
Funny you should say that but I was over at Disney Studios and Anjon and
associates were doing a demo of Playmation to the speaker support/graphics
group over there. I was impressed with the software and told a friend/client of
mine, Richard Sher, about the product. Quick as a flash he unholstered his Visa
and ordered the package right there and then and told me if it was no good he'd
blame it on me. I still haven't ordered the package preferring a wait and see
(read procrastinate) stance on all this new stuff – besides I'm not
independently wealthy like many of the others on this forum <g,d & r>.
Sometimes I just wait until a client demands a certain effect or type of
animation and is willing to pay well for it, then I go out and buy the
software, learn it in an intensely short period of time (using the latest
compression algorithms) and do the project, hopefully, very nicely.
Davit, the Playmation folks are now hanging out in GRAPHDEV section 12. Check
it out! On-line help and file exchange…
would you have there address and phone number avail? thnks sherwood
