Hi, John:
Just a note to say that exporting .AI from CorelDraw with No Fill is VERY
important. Good Habit. Don't forget to weld all coincident vertices in the
shaper before lofting.
Good luck to David…

Alan, hello to you!
>> .AI from CorelDraw with No Fill is very important…
Prompted by your comment, I finally sat down and ran a series of tests – you
sure know how to work a guy! My tests confirmed your comment exactly with one
interesting aside: using a tight gradient fill (radial was neat) on some text
and exporting as .AI resulted in each letter divided into a series of
close-fitting polys, like slicing the letters along (curved) gradient levels.
This might be a great way to make a sliced-up title for a unique reassembly!
The biggest hassle with Corel is flipping between 3DS and Windows – hope this
will change someday (soon?)

Hi John,
Hope you are feeling better.
The Corel fill experiments sound way cool! Gonna have to check them out. Check
the upcoming issue of 3D artist for my article about the 3DS/Corel connection.
Could that gradient thing be a shortcut to beveled text? Who'd a thunk it?!
Remind me to give you a little push more often!…<g>
I, too, am constantly changing between Windows and 3DS. I believe Gary
mentioned that r3 will support DPMI for at least running 3DS in DOS
window…maybe an omen of what's to come? I wouldn't be suprised to see a NT/P5
version of 3DS one day in the not too distant…sure would be great for map
testing, shape making, etc…
Happy modeling!

Alan – FWIW, Roger Danielsen has Windows in his shell-from-3DS menu and gets to
it with relatively few problems that way…

Cool! Thanks, David.

TAHIWWAGD (Thanks A Heap, It Was Worth A Great Deal! <g>) All this time of
switching back and forth, I never thought of trying that. The machine locked up
until I tried running 3DSHELL – now everything works OK. Still have to wait
for Windows with slowpoke Norton Desktop to load, but saves exiting 3DS &
restarting. Thanks again!
Now, how to get Windows, AniPlay, AniPro, 3DSURF and all those IPAS Botique
routines to fit in the 14 program slots… <g> (Patience, my boy, just wait
for R3. But, whine, I want it nnnnowww!)
