Has anybody gotten a CP290 X10 programmable controller to work on their
Amiga? I downloaded CyberX10 recently, bought a CP290 (PC compatible
model), and have had zero success in getting my 3000 and the CP290 to talk
to each other?

It does work. It's not the easiest program to understand, but it does
work.
I'd suggest the you carefully check the documentation again, because the
command structure is VERY syntactically specific. I tried it out on my
Amiga 2000 through my 2232 board (yes Virginia, it does support multiple
serial port units). I personally didn't care for the human interface of
the program so I never delved very deeply into the workings of it, though
it certainly seems to have everything you'd need.
You might try a few of the simplest commands first right from the CLI and
see if you can get it working that way. Be aware that the CP290 is a
pretty slow device (I think 600 baud) so commands take a bit of time to
transmit over.

My problem is not command syntax, but just getting the data to/from the
CP290. I am having some kind of cable problems.
Turns out all my problems were caused by incompatible serial preferences.
Once I got those straight, it worked fine.
Who makes the CP290? I have SOME programmable controller running at home
(gets updated by the Amiga about once a week or so (to correct for
sunrise/sunset). It's running of an Amiga 1000.. I don't recall offhand
what the program I'm using is (I'm at the office now) but the name Ami-X10
is my best guess at it.
The CP290 is the X10 controller sold by Radio Shack… I can't remember if
that's the RS p/n or and/or the X10 p/n.
I got it working. It was an incompatibility in my serial preferences. I
had parity on. Once I set parity to none, it worked fine.
All CP290's are built by the X10 company. They are oemed by Radio Shack,
and others, but all are made by X10.
