PPage 4 Upgrade
3 messages in this thread
Philip,
received my PPage upgrade on Friday, looks good, but I have a couple of
questions about it. First, it seems to be very sensitive to Chip Ram
fragmentation, with 900k free and a largest block of over 400k, it fails
to load with an insufficient chip ram message. If I re-boot and start
PPage it works ok. I have an A500 with 1M Chip and 2M fast, is this
normal?
Second, the included PSpool program only seems to work for Postscript
output, as I have found no way to redirect the dot matrix output to an
alternative device. Am I missing something or is this correct?
My only other comment at the moment concerns the installation routine
which failed to install the PageGenies. The reason for this is that the
archive containing the genies has been renamed from Pagegenies.lzh to
PALPagegenies.lzh, but the install script hasn't been altered to reflect
this. It didn't cause a me a major problem, but should be corrected.
Thanks for a great product, keep up the good work.

PS. Excellent service 2 weeks from order to delivery of upgrade, thanks.
Robert,
No, ProSpool will not work for dot-matrix printing. It is designed only to
function with PostScript.
What version does your about box say? The latest is PPage 4.0A (not 4.0 or
4.0a). I have a couple of Boltons on my list of 4.0A that were sent out…send
me your address by email if you don't have 4.0A and I will send it out (or the
patch is also availabe in the WP/DTP library.
4.0A cleared up some memroy problems so I want to make sure you are using it.
Are you located in the UK or another country that may be using the PAL/Euro
version (page size A4)?
PALPagegenies.lzh contain the A4 size pages…I will have to check out the
master disk set as the "Letter size page" version is OK.
Thanks

Philip,
sorry about the re-post, I did it off line before downloading
anything today.
The version number I have is 4.0A from tha About box.
I am in the UK, and as stated in my other message, have today received a
second copy of the upgrade.
As I said the problem with the PAL genies is in the installer, not a major
problem for me and DOpus to solve, but others could get caught out by it.
Thanks again for the service,
Bob Bolton.
