To all- Speaking of filling the screen. If I want to make a 640×480 flic how would I get it to fill the entire screen when I go to play it back, say from preview in the keyframer. It seems that when I use 640×480 with a .9 aspect ration, the yellow and green safe frame areas fill the camera view completely, but I'm only getting about 80% of the screen filled in playback mode. And will this be a different screen fill on a different monitor if I were to take the 640×480 flic to another computer. Well, well, well? What about it, What about it? Thanks Carl

Carl, why would you use .9 aspect ratio? 640×480 is a 1.0 aspect ratio and I've never seen it overlap a monitor unless it's an overscan monitor or the h-size, v-size adjustments are turned way up on the monitor adjustments. As for 3ds playback the auto-sensing doesn't always get it right anyway – a better indication is to use animator pro and set up your vesa mode at the appropriate rez and load the flic. If you don't have that play80.zip available on this forum does a nice job of flic playback and flic size sensing/vesa mode choice.

Martin- The reason I was using .9 as the aspect ratio was in the 3ds keyframer camera view, .9 seemed to make the yellow outline fill most of the frame, thusly I figured it would fill most of the monitor when rendered. If I set the aspect to say 1 the horizontal comes in, if I go under .9 the vertical decreases, where talking about the camera view- safe frame. But as you say using animator pro or play80 will automatically adjust to the monitor size, am I correct? Thanks Carl P.S. Did you ever get my letter?

Carl, I'm sorry but I still don't see any need for using an incorrect aspect ratio. Animator Pro and play.exe (play80.zip) can be forced to go into certain vesa modes and play.exe will attempt to choose the right screen resolution for the flic if you don't specify. As far as physically filling the monitor once you have the right mode it's a matter of making manual adjustments to the monitor to get an absolute bezel to bezel image. I did recieve a check (thanks) from you but no written letter.

>> Well, well, well? What about it, What about it? << Aaack! Dunno, dunno, dunno! I'm so far ($) from acquiring any 3ds->video equipment that I haven't even looked at the Safe Frame feature.

Carl- Carl, it seems I'm writing to myself. Oh well, I wasn't trying to push an anserw from you or anyone perticular, >>Well, well, well?<< just my way of throwing a little narative light-heartness into the conversation. :.) <- broken nose. Carl (there's that name again)
