I seem to recall that the Targa will run in one mode or the other but not both
at the same time, ie svideo or rgb. Check the docs for that. I think that there
is a switch on the board which will make it go svideo or rgb.

You're right about the Targa+'s documented inability to feed both S-video and
H/sync simultaneously. That could have something to do with my situation,
although I tried several combinations of settings (including S-video off)
without success on the RGB front.
