Yes, the rumor that it was not available here aparently is a false one. At least that's what the Fire Board Product Manager told me two weeks ago. It's been here in the US for over a year now.

The Spea Fire Board is a high-end video graphics card based on the i860. It is very fast for this kind of work (Cyber, that is).

Phil – Ingo sez the SPEA will do 25-50 fps @ 640×480. Can you verify this at all? DT

Here's what I have about the Spea Fire Board… –2MB Vram to switch between two 24-bit planes –33 Mhz i860 with 8 – 16 MB CPU-RAM on board –lots of video modes, inlcuding PAL and NTSC –3DS drivers –fast animation previewer for 3DS –3D-graphics programmer's interfaces –good technical support this is all out of a review. I can't stand behind any of this information, but I assume that it's correct. As for the actual performance numbers, I don't have any concrete information on it.

If this card is so great why haven't we heard anything about it yet from the regular channels? Is it that new? I'd like to know the price if you have the info. thanks. Alex K

The card is very expensive (in the $5000 range, I believe, but don't quote me) and that's why you haven't heard much about it. It's been available in the US for about a year now.
