#CD+G anyone ?

Hello all,
I have a quick question that I didn't find in the FAQ or the libraries in this
forum. Is it possible to read a "CD+G" (Compact Disc + Graphics) disk from a
PC ? Anyone know of software that might allow me to do this ? Apparently,
there is a portion of the CD which contains some images which should be
viewable using some kind of hardware, but I don't have any other information on
what format it is and even if it is readable.

The CD-G signal is carried on the subcode channels. Most drives use the P code
and Q code. The Q code carries the time in track, on disc and track and index
number. The 6 bits R-W carry CD-G. Don't know which drives handle it, and
read your message hoping to find a player. Some of the CD-ROM engineers don't
understand WHY anyone wants CD-G. If the drive supports it there is an
extensions call for it. Ask Sony, NEC or Toshiba if they can do it.
My only experience with CD+G right now is that my son's Sega Genesis CD-ROM
came with at least one CD+G disc — they slowly cycle through some fairly
basic graphics as the music plays. The Hendryx cut is my favorite.
