#Need excellent Atlas
5 messages in this thread
I'm looking for a really good Atlas. (I have the Software Toolworks Atlas Pack
but it seems _very_ limited.) I think I saw an add somewhere recently that a
really complete Atlas was just coming (or just came) out. Anyone know what it
is or can recommend a really good one?
TIA
Ken
Ken, what type of information do you want in your atlas and what area do you
want it to cover? I have several CD-ROM's that have maps in various levels of
detail. Some are just for the US, some are worldwide. Products include:
GeoSystems Voyager for trip planning, DeLorme's Street Atlas USA for street
maps of the entire US and their soon to be released Global Explorer with street
maps for major cities. There are many other atlas products on CD-ROM.
Bruce:
I'm looking for a WorldWide Atlas that will let me look at close-ups of
almost any region. I realize nothing can have every city in the World (!)
but I'd expect at least as much as I get in my New York Times Atlas book
where I can focus in on almost any region. The ToolWorks version I have
lets you close-up on maybe 1 city per country, and only gives statistics on
a few others.
US street Atlas might be nice some day — but not what I'm looking for right
now.
I had heard about some great Atlas about to be realeased. Would that be the
Global Explorer? Would that be what I'm looking for?
Thanks for your advice.
Ken
Global Explorer from DeLorme is a worlwide geographic database being
introduced at CeBit and Intermedia over the next couple of weeks.
It contains street level detail of 100 world cities along with
topography, 20,000 points of interest, world air travel routes, country
profiles and much more. Available for shipment on April 5.
Leave me mail and I will send you press release and Global Explorer
information.
Regards, Steve
Ken, I still don't know what types of information you want from the atlas, so I
can't help you on this. I can't talk about the details of Global Explorer till
it is released.
