Just got NEC 74-1 with bundle and ProAudioSpectrum 16 board and I am having a
lot of trouble. Most often, the drive is not recognized when I boot the
computer. Sometimes it kicks in right away, other times I have to boot
computer 5-6 times.
Another problem: Having a lot of trouble loading some CD's. Looks like the
computer isn't recognizing subdirectories on the CD. For example, if I go to a
subdir on the CD and type dir, I only get the listing of the root files and the
prompt is changed to the root directory. MediaVision, Tiger Software, and NEC
are fingerpointing and I am really not happy with this media.

Stacker DOS 5.0 This CD is the BRANDNEW NEC 74-1 that will play the multi
session photo CD's (whatever that means) I think the drivers are giving me
problems but I don't know who or what to ask.
I'm not MediaVision but several possibilities come to mind. First, check to
see that your card isn't using addresses that conflict with IRQs or DMAs
currently being used by other hardware/software. Second, make sure you have
excluded the card's address range both in QEMM's load line and in SYSTEM.INI
using EMMExclude=<range>.
Try loading the driver/manager for the SCSI port BEFORE stacker, and also
load MSCDEX before compression. Often these do not like to be compressed with
Stacker or whatever.
If all else fails, you're going to need MediaVision.
