#Tosh 3401 & SBPRO

Could someone please help. I am considering the 3401 and would like to know if
it is directly compatible with SBPRO. Also, I understand it is MS photo
compatible and would like to know if anyone is successful with it in that
capacity ?

No problem with the 3401 and SBPro. So far runs like a champ. Have not
tried Photo CD yet.

I really appreciate your help, I have been through a Gravis Ultrasound and
although it is supposed to be compatible it does not sound like the SBPRO. I am
excited about the 3401 and it should be ready for pick up today. I am alot more
comfortable with your recommendation.
Is the drive everything you hoped for ? It seems so.
I am not sure of the quality of photo quality anyway.
Is it very good ?
By the way I ordered the Toshiba card, it is supposed to be 16 bit Skuzzy do
you know if it is worth the money ($150) ?

Do you mean to connect the 3401 directly to the SBPro through it's `SCSI'
connector? If so, I doubt you'll get it going. The SBPrs's `SCSI' connector
is not -really- SCSI (this I've been told by the techs at Creative Labs), and
you can only use certain proprietary drives with the card. I know this because
I have the SBPro, and was hoping to connect it to my Toshiba 3301… no go.
If you were referring to using the two together for multimedia (but have the
CD-ROM controlled by a seperate SCSI card) then I can assure you they'll work
well together, especially if you get the internal connector hooked up (CD-ROM
`audio out' to the SBPro's `CD-in' line…). I've been using the 3301 and the
SBPro for about 6 months now (for multimedia) and have -never- been
disappointed!
