I am looking for an inexpensive genlock for my Amiga 500. I have 1 Meg of RAM, 2 disk drives, and an AdSpeed accelerator. The December 1991 issue of AmigaWorld mentions that the miniGEN from Progressive Peripherals, at $224, gives a "clean" output. My local Amiga dealer just recommended to me a new product by The Disc Company called Alter Image Genlock. It is supposed to be slightly better quality than the miniGEN, plus it has a passthru connector for use with a monitor, at only about $15 more than the miniGEN. Is anyone familiar with either of these genlocks? Can someone recommend these or something else in this price range? -Bill.

I recall testing the miniGEN several years ago and found the output barely passable. In my opinion, it isn't anywhere close to RS170A; but, in a consumer "fun" application, like home movies and such, it would be okay. – Lorenz K. Sievers –
