HELP! I bought a toshiba TXM340, in order to read multisession PHOTO CD. Since
I have an ultrastor 14 SCSI card, I thought that this card will take care of my
Toshiba. It does recognize it when the USPI starts, but does not give it a
drive letter, and I have the impression that something is missing: before, when
I bought a CD ROM drive with his SCSI card, I had some driver and MSCDEX. Here
they gave me the machine, and that's all. I am lost. Do you have this toshiba
and how do you use it? My configuration: Gateway 486/66v ultrastor 14F Dos 5.0

I do not know about the ultrastor, but any cd rom drive, from dos is going to
have to have the cd rom driver specific for that card and mscdex.
MSCDEX is generic and can be used with any drive. To use a CD-ROM drive with
an Ultrastor or another SCSI controller, you need a device driver for the
CD-ROM drive that must be loaded in CONFIG.SYS. This is no different from
purchasing a CD-ROM drive with a proprietary controller.
Yes, you do need an additional driver in Config.sys for the CD ROM. Call
Ultrastor to get one, or I believe Corel sells SCSI drivers.
