I'm getting a CD-ROM this summer and wonder how much room does each disc I
would buy take up on my hard disk? I read somewhere that most discs come with
files you must install on your hard disk for doing searches on the disc and
such. Is this true, and if so, how big are these files?

This can be true, but the amount of hard disk required depends on the CDROM
product. I've seen numbers ranging from 1MB to 10MB. If you have been
building a list of desired CDROM pubs., check out their requirements.
