#Flashing Caps Lock light

Very rarely, when I turn on my Amiga, the keyboard's Caps Lock LED will flash
about every 2 seconds, and the keyboard will refuse to work. I have just
experienced this, and I find it unsettling, to say the least. I unplugged the
keyboard cable and left it sit for a minute or so; eventually, the keyboard
would work when I plugged it back in.
What is the cause of this problem?

Upon powerup, the microcontroller that controls the keyboard performs a
self-test on the keyboard. If the self-test fails, it flashes the Caps Lock
LED to indicate a keyboard diagnostic failure.
As to the cause, it seems your problem is intermittant. Check all connections
to the keyboard & look for a possible strained connection?

Part of the self-test does flash the CapsLock LED…but it quits if all
is ok.

This happens to my A2500 once in a while also. The blinking is supposed
to mean the keyboard rom has failed but I have always been able to recover
from it. I just turn off the whole thing for at least 2-3 minutes.
Anything less doesn't seem to be long enough. Weird! I thought it might
have been when I connected or disconnected the external 3.5. I have an
8088 Bridgeboard in that machine and would occasionally need the 3.5 drive
for the BB. Of course I powered down first.
